The Lurk Fund is...
The Lurk Fund is a part-time (October-November) family run fund dedicated to improving the lives of our animal friends. The fund aims to provide four+ grants of $5,000 a year to worthy organizations in the field of animal welfare.
The fund is inspired by a cat named Lurk. Lurk got his name as a kitten by hiding in the house, but peering out of corners, from under chairs or from other hidden locations and leaping out to play. As an adult, Lurk demonstrated the biggest heart ever; never in his life did he act with malice or unkindness, but rather genuinely adored every creature he met.
On the flip side, Lurk was also as thick as a brick, but his good nature and sunny disposition overcame his lack of common sense. One of his most endearing traits was sharing his joy of food when asking to be fed. He had his way of telling you he was hungry (sitting six feet away and staring), but when you accompanied him to the kitchen where his ever-filled bowl was, he'd notice the food, turn his head and say (as a cat) "Wow! Did you know there was food here? Who Hoo!" and dig in with gusto.
Lurk brought great joy to everyone he met for about six years, but sadly succumbed to kidney failure. He was cremated in a Buddhist ceremony, but hopefully has been re-born to bring happiness to others. It is in his spirit that the fund has been created.
